Food Safety Week 2017

Food Safety is the result of several factors: legislation establishes minimum hygiene requirements, the Competent Authority carries out official controls to verify compliance by food sector operators who are legally responsible for ensuring safe food.

In the complex system of the agri-food chain (environment – breeding – production – consumption) consisting of various steps in which different subjects operate, it is essential to be aware of the role played by each one and of the importance of adequate communication and correct and complete information.

Effective communication allows the supply chain to function correctly, conveying reliable information and, in return, a positive and reassuring image towards the community of citizens/consumers who benefit from it.

The discrepancy between real risk, the result of the risk analysis carried out by experts and the risk perceived by consumers, often influenced by the way in which certain topics are treated, is another critical element in the development of a common conscience and balanced behaviours by each member of the system.

For this reason, the Veterinary Services of the ASL Frosinone Company have implemented a program of interventions with the aim of promoting greater knowledge of the problems and dynamics present within the food safety system, creating a moment of confrontation between producers, Trade Associations, Local Administrations, Competent Authorities and Control Bodies and, as far as possible, shared paths useful for the growth of each one and the dissemination of a culture of safety in the production, management and consumption of food, the results of which are addressed to the consumer ultimately represented by each citizen.
