Haematology Unit

The Haematology Unit is a complex structure within the hospital in Frosinone. Hematology is a branch of internal medicine that deals with the blood and organs that make up the hematopoietic system. The hematologist studies the causes, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of blood diseases.

Recipients

The recipients are all users who need hematology interventions at the inpatient and/or outpatient department level.

Services / Activities provided

  • Inpatient ward: with 14 beds, which carries out emergency admissions from the Emergency Department and scheduled hospitalizations, for the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases;
  • Day Hospital Department: which performs the following services:
    • chemotherapies;
    • transfusions;
    • specialist examinations;
    • marrow aspirates;
    • osteomedullary biopsies.
  • Therapeutic and diagnostic PACs for:
    • Superficial lymphadenopathy;
    • Anaemia;
    • Multiple Myeloma;
    • Monoclonal Gammopathy;
    • Chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms;
    • Lymphoproliferative neoplasias;
    • Thrombophilia;
    • Autologous pre-transplant screening.

The outpatient activity, from 08.30 to 14.00 at Palazzina Q, is organised as follows:

  • General Outpatient Clinic: which performs the following services:
    • First ordinary and urgent visits;
    • Inspection visits;
    • Bone marrow aspirates;
    • Osteo-medullary biopsies.
  • Specialist outpatient clinics for:
    • Chronic Myeloproliferative Syndromes Outpatient Clinic Ph-: (Monday);
    • Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia Clinic: (Tuesday);
    • Myelomas and Chronic Lymphoid Leukaemia Outpatient Clinic: (Wednesday);
    • Haemostasis and Thrombosis and Platelets Clinic: (Thursday);
    • Outpatient Clinic for Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: (Friday);
    • Myelodysplastic and Acute Leukaemia Clinic: (Tuesday);
    • Transplant Clinic: (Friday).
  • Antithrombosis Center: consisting of an Outpatient Clinic that performs the following services:
    • first visits and check-ups for candidate patients and patients on oral anticoagulant therapy;
    • withdrawals for the INR;
    • reporting of therapies;
    • collection of reports or shipment of the same to patients.

Since January 2019, a General Outpatient Clinic has been active at the Cassino Hospital Center on Wednesdays from 08.00 to 14.00, which carries out:

  • First visits;
  • Inspection visits;
  • Consultations for patients in protected discharge pertaining to the Hospital Pole departments.

Open from Monday to Friday from 08.00 to 14.00.

Antithrombosis Center

Wednesday from 08.30 to 10.30 first visits and check-ups for candidate patients and patients on oral anticoagulant therapy. From Monday to Friday, samples are taken for the INR from 08.00 to 10.00; the reporting of therapies takes place from 11.00 to 14.00, while the collection of reports takes place from 14.00 to 16.00.
