UOC Neurology

The Neurology UOC is a complex structure of the Hospital of Frosinone, active for patients throughout the Territory of the Province. Neurology is the specialized branch of medicine that studies the pathologies of the central nervous system (brain, cerebellum, brainstem and spinal cord),  the peripheral system (roots and spinal ganglia, plexuses and nerve trunks) and the autonomous peripheral nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic ganglia, extravisceral and intravisceral plexuses) 

The following activities are carried out in the Neurology UOC of the PO of Frosinone, for internal and external patients:

  • general Neurology surgery;
  • epilepsy surgeries (contact persons Dr. Roberto De Simone and Dr. Martina Fanella)
  • outpatient clinic for Sleep Disorders (contact person Dr. Roberto de Simone)
  • surgery for Parkinson’s disease and extrapyramidal diseases 
  • headache clinic (referent Dr. Laura Borrello);
  • activity related to the Multiple Sclerosis Center (Specialist visits and infusion of first and second group drugs under the Day Service regime – contact person Dr. Fabiana Marinelli)
  • Evaluation and treatment in the psychological/neuropsychological field related to the Multiple Sclerosis Center (to be activated soon)
  • neurological consultancy activities for hospitalized patients for the hospitals of Frosinone, Alatri, Sora, Cassino;
  • electroencephalographic examinations (routine EEG with stimulation tests/ HP and SLI; recording in wakefulness, sleep and after sleep deprivation) EEG video (of imminent activation) 24h dynamic EEG (of imminent activation) for adult and child patients admitted to the ASL Hospitals of Frosinone and for adult and outpatient children;
  • eNG /EMG examinations, visual, acoustic, somatosensory evoked potentials for internal and external patients (limited to patients undergoing diagnostic definition – referent Dr. Martina Bracaglia)
  • eEG tests and assessments related to the assessment of Brain Death;
  • Administration of botulinum toxin for drug-resistant headache and spasticity (in progress)

  • Therapeutic cap for the controlled administration of drugs (PV.58);
  • Diagnostic cap for balance disorders (P.780.4);
  • PAC deterioration of cognitive functions (P.331);
  • Diagnostic PAC of headache and other neurological pain syndromes (p.7840.A);
  • PAC for the diagnosis and follow-up of neurophthalmic diseases (P.377)

  • neurological examinations for outpatients: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 1.30 pm
  • dedicated surgeries: Epilepsy,  on Mondays from 9.30 to 12.30 and on Thursdays from 9.30 to 13.00 (epilepsy and sleep disorders)
  • parkinson’s surgery: Tuesdays from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm;
  • headache surgery: on Fridays from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm;
  • activity related to the Multiple Sclerosis Centre: on Wednesdays from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm, the other days if necessary;
  • electroencephalographic examinations: (routine EEG with stimulation tests/ HP and SLI; recording in wakefulness, sleep and after sleep deprivation) for outpatients from Monday to Saturday (adults and children); from Monday to Saturday
  • consultancy activities for hospitalized patients: for the hospitals of Frosinone, Alatri, Sora, Cassino from Monday to Saturday;
  • electroencephalographic examinations for hospitalized patients: (adults and children) in the ASL FR hospitals (EEG routine with stimulation tests/ HP and SLI; recording in wakefulness, sleep and after sleep deprivation) from Monday to Saturday;
  • psychology/neuropsychologists related to the Multiple Sclerosis Center: in the process of activation
  • PAC (Complex Outpatient Packages): above from Monday to Friday
