The UOC of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy is a complex structure within the hospital of Frosinone. The purposes of the service are the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the gastroenteric system, in election and in emergency/urgency.
This structure is responsible for:
- gastroenterological consultations for hospitalized patients;
- screening activities for the early diagnosis of colorectal cancers;
- dedicated clinic for Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Regional Reference Centre for Biological Drug Therapy;
- dedicated clinic for the Diagnosis and Care of Celiac Disease, included in the regional network for Celiac Disease.
Recipients
The recipients are adult patients for each age group, as well as the paediatric population in relation to elective and/or emergency endoscopic procedures.
Services / Activities provided
- Digestive Endoscopy in election: gastroscopies, colonoscopies, polypectomies of the stomach and colon, mucous resections of the stomach and colon (EMR), P.E.G. implant, endoscopic retrograde pancreatography cholangium (C.P.R.E.);
- Digestive Endoscopy in emergency: gastroscopies and colonoscopies with endoscopic therapy (injective, mechanical and thermal) of bleeding lesions of the upper and lower digestive tract, removal of foreign bodies;
- Day Service – Diagnostic PACs for: anemia, celiac disease, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, staging, re-evaluation of colorectal cancer;
- Gastroenterological consultations: for the Emergency Department and for the Inpatient Departments;
- Outpatient clinic for Celiac Disease;
- Outpatient clinic for Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.

- procedures in election by internal request: for hospitalized patients

- pre-endoscopic examinations: from Monday to Thursday from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm;
- collection of histological reports and follow-up: from Monday to Friday from 12.00 to 14.00
