New heat waves: tips to avoid negative health effects

Record temperatures in the province of Frosinone will also continue in the coming days with peaks, in the central hours, of up to 37 degrees Celsius.

It is necessary to follow some rules of conduct to defend against heat waves and prevent negative effects on health, especially of the most fragile people.

What to do

  • Always keep track of weather forecasts
  • Wear lightweight clothing, natural fibres and light colours, hats and sunglasses
  • Drink at least 2 litres of water per day
  • Eat light meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables
  • Wash your wrists and forehead with cold water
  • Refreshing the home and work environment

DON ‘TS

  • Going out in the hottest hours of the day
  • Prolonged sun exposure
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor physical activity or heavy work during the day
  • Do not stand inside the stationary car, avoiding leaving children, the elderly and pets for even a few minutes.
  • Do not wear synthetic fibre clothing
  • Not good alcohol or cold drinks
  • Avoid wearing synthetic fibre clothing

In case of need during the night and on pre-holiday and public holidays, it is possible to contact the Continuity of Care Service (former Medical Guard) which guarantees all citizens, including non-residents, health care for situations that are of an urgent nature during working hours when primary care doctors and paediatricians of free choice are not available.

The Service is active at the following times:

  • from 8.00 pm to 8.00 am, on weekdays and public holidays;
  • from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm on pre-holiday days;
  • from 08.00 to 20.00 on public holidays.
