DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE

The Complex Operating Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Cassino offers services and assistance to the female population of the territory, in planned or urgent hospitalization through direct access from the emergency room; it provides outpatient health services.

The UOC is committed to the promotion and protection of women’s health, carrying out prevention, diagnosis and treatment activities.

The UOC pays particular attention to the humanization of the birth event, respecting the indications of the guidelines and the World Health Organization, taking into account ethnic, cultural and social factors;

Childbirth assistance is guaranteed by a team of professionals present in the hospital continuously for 24 hours, composed of the obstetrician-gynecologist, obstetric and nursing staff, pediatrician, anesthesiologist. Our care promotes respect for the physiology of labor, the one-to-one relationship with the midwife and offers the use of non-pharmacological techniques for pain control such as relaxation with adequate breathing, emotional support, music, use of hot water, movement, use of aromatherapy and the use of nitrous oxide; it also supports delayed clamping of the umbilical cord and skin-to-skin contact. Obstetric interventions are limited to those really necessary to guarantee the safety of the mother and the newborn and we act according to clinical care protocols shared and continuously updated based on scientific evidence and the analysis of our reality.

We consider the presence of the partner or a companion chosen by the woman for the birth event to be essential.

The UOC encourages and supports breastfeeding, offering women who wish the rooming-in service, or the stay of the newborn and the mother in the same hospital room during the 24 hours, except for those dedicated to care, with adequate professional assistance.

Assistance is provided for: natural childbirth; planned and/or urgent caesarean delivery; anonymous delivery (according to current legislation).

Scheduled hospitalization by request for hospitalization of the GP or Specialist Doctor.

Emergency admission with access from the Emergency Department of the Cassino Hospital.

Pre-hospitalisation for delivery or surgery (direct access by telephone reservation: 0776.3929602 – 0776.3929603 at the request of the medical director of the UOC)

Outpatient services in protected discharge, through internal documentation provided to the user at the time of discharge and by appointment.

The Hospital

The hospital area, welcoming and comfortable, is structured according to specific criteria to ensure safety and privacy; the hospital rooms are double, or two beds; each room is equipped with toilets with an assisted bathroom and lockers. In the heart of the department there is an area dedicated to mothers and babies, equipped with a washbasin, changing table and armchairs for breastfeeding. The inpatient area is directly connected to the Delivery Rooms.

As per internal provisions, the entry time is reserved for only one visitor per patient from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm every day, compulsorily with FFP2 and green pass.
