Pathological Anatomy at ASL Frosinone

The Molecular Biology Section obtains certification from the Quality Control of the European Molecular Genetics Quality Network (EMQN).

The EMQN European Body has accredited the Laboratory of Pathological Anatomy of the ASL of Frosinone for the Molecular Biology section, granting it the prestigious certification.  A quality recognition obtained, moreover, in a very short time, “still by not many laboratories” and which constitutes an important milestone for the ASL of Frosinone and a “safe” service for its citizens.

Molecular biology analyses are now an indispensable tool in the routine in the oncology field for diagnostic, prognostic and predictive purposes. Many neoplastic forms of the same organ are apparently identical histologically but at the molecular level they show different genetic profiles so the molecular characterization of the individual tumor is fundamental for the choice of the personalized therapeutic path through the administration of “target” drugs, thus minimizing the development of relapses. These molecular tests based on DNA/RNA analysis represent, currently an indispensable diagnostic tool in the routine in the oncology field, the gold standard, which the ASL of Frosinone has managed to make available to the citizens of the territory, in particular to those who seek treatment at the UOC of Oncology of Sora led by Dr. Cecilia Nisticò.

The team of the laboratory led by Dr Piero Luigi Alò, is composed of Dr Concetta Cafiero Geneticist and the medical and technical staff working in the UOC: Dr Roberto Arcese, Dr Giuseppe Di Cioccio, Dr Renato Reitano, Dr Alessandra Perfetti, Dr Sara Ienzi, Dr Marco Raimondi, Dr Claudia Quintiliani  and the Biological specialists Dr Ornella Rodi, Dr Federica Fratangeli, the TSLB Technical Coordinator Dr Stefania Sperduti and the TSLB Management Area Technician Dr Raffaele Riccio and Dr TSLB Mario Fiore and Dr TSLB Elisa Fiore.

“It is an important work, begun a few months ago, which we have followed carefully thanks also to the technical sector and in particular to the clinical engineering service that actively supports the technological development of the ASL – says the ASL Strategic Management – and despite the many difficulties that we face every day, the achievement of certain objectives comforts us and motivates us. We are grateful to the professionals who worked to make oncological molecular genetics in Frosinone a reality, also obtaining European certification in such a short time”.
