Thyroid surgery, child audiology, apnea syndrome: the ENT of the Santa Scolastica di Cassino centre of excellence

Thyroid surgery, child audiology, apnea syndrome: the ENT of the Santa Scolastica di Cassino confirms itself as a centre of excellence for the treatment of diseases rather present in the provincial territory.

Let’s go into the details of the activities with the Director of the UOC Orl Cassino Dr. Eugenio Maria Giangrande:

“Our land is endemic for thyroid disease. We started with surgery and in the last two months we have carried out 20 operations, 4 of a malignant nature. Our center offers a complete path, from endocrinological examination to counseling, up to multidisciplinary evaluation. Along with the thyroid, we also intervene on the major salivary glands and particularly the parotid gland.

The parotidectomy is an operation of the highest level of surgery that is now routinely carried out by us. We have also reopened pediatric surgery with high numbers due to upper airway obstruction.

I would like to appeal to the specialists of our territory but also to the GPs to direct their patients to Santa Scolastica where they find competence and quality while staying close to home. In this way, we will bring down passive mobility, which penalizes everyone. “

For child audiology?

We are a centre of excellence with state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosing hearing loss from neonatal, infantile and paediatric age. A regional service, we welcome many patients who come from all over Italy to be evaluated by us. Since January we have provided over 400 performances that have steadily increased over time.

ENT also deals with Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Yes, for years we have been dealing with sleep apnea syndrome, in collaboration with endocrinologists and diabetologists because very often we are faced with obese patients who must be treated globally. The otolarynx acts to destroy the upper airways and make interventions to expand the respiratory space. Our activity is carried out in a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with Dr. Macciotti, Prof. Napoli and Dr. Celletti. We have also presented a series of works on this topic throughout Italy.
