The UOC of Pathological Anatomy at the forefront with the new instrumentation

The UOC of Pathological Anatomy of the Asl of Frosinone is enriched with new avant-garde instrumentation. In fact, four new microscopes have been installed, one for each company hub and a fifth instrument, even more high-performance, equipped with image acquisition and ultra-high-definition 32- and 55-inch monitors, the latter positioned in the meeting room, which has always been a place for department briefings, meetings of the GOMs (Multidisciplinary Oncology Groups) and study for patients recruited from screening programs. The meeting room now also becomes multimedia, for the joint study of histo-cytopathological diagnoses.

The Director of the UOC Prof. Piero Luigi Alò explains: “Histology is the medical science that studies tissues, Pathology has as its object of investigation the origin of diseases. Hence, the Histo-cytopathological examination serves, through microscopic vision to highlight signs and alterations in the tissues, as a “queen test” to complete the presumed diagnostic framework and direct the most appropriate therapy.

The presence, therefore, of the new instrumentation will allow the contemporary vision, in very high definition, by all specialists, of morphological alterations, guaranteeing an easier discussion, definition and practical implementation of the therapeutic diagnostic path of cancer patients “.

The most up-to-date new devices will also measure the propaedeuticity to the next future way of making a diagnosis through the “Digital Pathology “mode on which Frosinone’s ASL has been focusing for some time. The new instrumentation will be essential to continue existing research projects and activate new ones.

Research is considered by the management of the UOC as a moment of diagnostic refinement, cultural enrichment and patient loyalty.“There is optimism – emphasizes Prof. Alò – for the continuity manifested by the new Strategic Management, with respect to technological updating. We thank the Technical Departments, which, in a team effort, have been able to find the skills to quickly achieve thisupdate. We are confident that very soon we can bring more in such a way as to make an increasingly high-performing assistance activity immediately available to our fellow citizens “.
