May 2022: Melanoma Prevention Month

Melanoma is a malignant tumor of the skin that originates from melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin. The incidence has been continuously increasing in recent decades and the subjects most at risk are those with light eyes, hair and skin, subjects with many moles and/or freckles, or who have cases in the family.

The best weapon to prevent the onset of neoplasia is prevention and the Asl of Frosinone, in May, organized a rich calendar of days dedicated to dermatological snow control visits.

These are the dates:

  • 4 May free screening of nevi by visit and dermoscopic examination by the outpatient specialists of the ASL of Frosinone at the Cutaneous Ulcer Center/oncological dermatology clinic of District B of V.le Mazzini from 2 pm to 8 pm;
  • 21 May open day dermatological visits for snow control at the dermatology clinic, third floor, Palazzina Q via Armando Fabi, Frosinone, from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm;
  • 28 May free screening of nevi by examination and demoscopic examination by the outpatient specialists of the ASL of Frosinone at the Cutaneous Ulcer Center/oncological dermatology clinic of District B of V.le Mazzini from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
  • 31 May open day dermatological visits for snow control at S. Scolastica, Cassino from 2 pm to 7 pm.

HOW TO ACCESS AND BOOK
Screening and visits are reserved for those with at least one of the following risk factors:

  • Skin complexion and light eyes;
  • Presence of more than 50 snows;
  • Family history of skin cancers.

Reservations for these four days will be open from 19 April to 2 May, by calling 0775.8822452, from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.

The calendar includes not only screenings and visits but also important moments of dissemination and awareness.

In this regard, there are two events scheduled:

  • On May 14, the “Melanoma Day” informative day will be held, organized by the association of the same name, with the patronage of the ASL of Frosinone and the participation, also of the company’s dermatologists, in the activity of outpatient visits at the Casa della Salute in Atina (for reservations contact the association directly through social channels);
  • On May 18 at 3:00 p.m. there will be a webinar for the presentation of the Territorial Dermatology-UOC Surgery Integrated Shared Pathway for the management of malignant skin tumours and skin ulcers.
