Doors open to Citizens and Operators for a new health culture

“The ASL opens the doors to citizens and health professionals to talk about diseases and cultivate an appropriate health culture. We begin on May 7 with three conferences because – emphasizes the General Director Dr. Pierpaola D’Alessandro – we believe that to make good health it is necessary to better understand the diseases, treatments, health innovations in the field. We hope that over time patients, patient associations but also individual citizens will participate more and more, to know scientifically and appropriately the path of living in health and to be able to consciously undertake care paths together with their Local Health Authority “.

THE EVENTS OF 7 MAY

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND MIGRAINE

Multiple sclerosis and migraine represent neurological diseases with a high social impact as well as causes of individual disability. These themes will be the focus of the conference to be held on Saturday 7 May at the Diocesan Auditorium of Frosinone in Viale Madrid from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Through the comparison of different points of view, an updated overview of the current management of patients suffering from these two diseases will be offered.

In recent years the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) has changed considerably, studies are underway to obtain more effective drugs, capable of reducing long-term disability and improving the quality of life of people with this disease.

Migraine is the most frequent form of primary headache with a prevalence in Western countries of about 15% for the episodic form and 2% for the chronic form, the latter being recognised as a disabling disease.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY TREATMENT OF BRAIN METASTASES

The meeting, scheduled in the Sala Teatro Comunale Costanzo Costantini Piazza Gregorio VII of Isola del Liri, starting at 10.00, aims to address and deepen the problems related to the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with brain metastases.

Every year in Italy, between 16,000 and 20,000 new cases of patients with secondary brain lesions are diagnosed, most of them originating from lung and breast neoplasms and skin melanomas.

New chemotherapy treatments, the refinement of radiotherapy techniques and the role of surgery are at the centre of this meeting, which aims to underline the importance of taking charge of the patient by a team of experts and the role that the PDTA (Diagnostic Therapeutic Care Pathway) can play in the correct clinical-therapeutic classification of these cases.

PAEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGY

May 7 is also the day of the “Pediatric Endocrinology” update scheduled to start at 9.00 am at the Hotel Bassetto in Ferentino.

Recent epidemiological data have shown that diseases related to the endocrine-metabolic system are constantly growing and, often, there are numerous interconnections between the various organs involved.

The scientific meeting aims to provide participants with indications and updates on the endocrine, metabolic and andrological sector in the clinical-therapeutic and research fields in children.

The main objectives are both to implement the ability to quickly recognize diseases and to improve knowledge about the necessary treatments to be considered.
